Mario Costumes For Halloween
Super Mario Bros. was one of the first big hits for Japanese videogame maker Nintendo. Released in 1985, it was the best-selling video game of all time for over two decades. Along with Pac-man, Asteroids and Tetris, it is arguably the most influential video game of all time.
To date, the Mario series (games that include the Mario character) have sold over two hundred million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling series in videogame history. Much like Mickey Mouse was to Disney, Mario and his younger brother Luigi are largely responsible for the early success of Nintendo.
So, who are Mario and Luigi? Well, they two out of shape (especially Mario) Italian-American plumbers from New York City. Most of the early games focus on Mario’s quest to rescue Prince Toadstool from the evil king of the Koopas, Bowser. In the game, Luigi can only be used in the multiplayer game as player 2.
Because of its incredible success, both characters have entered popular culture and are still a hit with kids. In the rest of this article we are going to take a look at Mario and Luigi Halloween costumes. Both outfits are comfortable and fun to wear since both characters are quirky and funny looking.
As we mentioned, Mario is a plumber and he dressed like a plumber in pair of blue overalls and a bright red shirt. Like Mickey Mouse, Mario wears white gloves and has a bushy black mustache. The finishing touch is the inflatable belly that is placed inside the jumpsuit. Hey, we told you Mario was out of shape. Oh, we almost forgot Mario’s bright red hat with the Mario Plumbing company logo emblazoned on it.
Because Mario is a plumber, a few simple accessories can be used to complete the ensemble. A mini plunger and a pair of black boots might make Mario even more of a hoot. Now if only you could jump like him!
Mario’s brother, Luigi, has a similar, slightly less distinctive costume. The outfit includes a jumpsuit that looks like a pair of blue overalls and a bright green shirt. Like Mario, he also works with spotless white gloves and has a bit of a weight problem. The inflatable belly goes on the inside of the jumpsuit. Luigi also has a bushy black mustache and a bright green hat with an “L” printed on it.
These costumes are perfect for young brothers or best friends. Just imagine the laughs your kids will get when homeowners open their doors to the pair of iconic plumbers. Both costumes are also quite comfortable and only include the three accessories: hat, mustache and belly.
